Hanover Pond and the Quinnipiac River

The Hanover Pond Trail follows the river through the area. Living near water doesn't mean every basement is wet — but if yours does take on water, mention it. Floor drains, sump pumps and whether the heater sits on a raised pad all affect a replacement plan.

Main Street and River Road

Older homes and small multifamily buildings are common. Describe the stairs or bulkhead, ceiling height and the heater's location so the contractor can plan removal and carry-in.

• City water or a private well; well sediment varies by property.
